F1 : U-do Island Half day Tour

Itinerary  Hotel - U-DO island - Sungsan ilchulbong - Hotel
Conditions • English speaking guide’s assistance
• 15-seated bus
• Admission included
U-do was named for its shape, said to resemble either a cow lying down or the head of a cow. Located 3.5 km. northeast of Seongsan-po, it is just 15 minutes by boat (5-4 round trips daily). U-do has a coral sand beach. The southern part of U-do contains a cave called Gwangdaegoji. When the sun shines through the cave entrance, it is reflected on the ceiling, looking just like a rising moon. This phenomenon is called 'Dalgeurian' ('Day Moon') and is the most magnificent of the 8 beautiful scenes of U-do. Visitors should time their visit appropriately- the best time to see the scene is around noon.
Near the eastern town of Songsan-ri, a volcanic crater with vertical cliffs rises up from the shore. As the easternmost tip of Jeju Island, this area is the first to greet each day's new sun, thus earning the name of "Sunrise Peak." A hefty climb brings visitors to the top of the peak. Visitors are prevented from entering the crater by barbed wire, but they can still enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding area. Jagged rocks stick up like teeth along the crater's perimeter. It is definitely worth the view, even if you do not make it in time for the sunrise.

The Jusangjeolli are stone pillars piled up along the coast and is a designated cultural monument of Jejudo Island. They are rock pillars shaped like cubes or hexagons of various sizes and almost seem as if stonemasons had carved them out. The waves of the high tides crashing into the side of the cliff provide a breathtaking view of the ocean surrounding the pillars.

 Itinerary  Hotel – Songak.Mt – 송악산선착장 – Mara Island - Yongmeori Cliff - Hotel
Conditions • English speaking guide’s assistance

 Mara Island
This island is the starting point and the ending point of Korea. On the island stands a monument that notifies that it is the southern tip of Korea. It takes one and a half hours to walk around the coastline. At the edge of the island, there are precipices, rock formations, a tunnel named "Namdaemun", and caves formed by the erosion of the sea. There are many other places to visit including Cheonyeo Dang (or Halmang Dang) where women divers make a wish for their safety and prosperity, Marado Lighthouse and the Mara branch elementary school. Visitors and anglers can stay in any of the 16 lodging houses on the island.
One hour is sufficient to walk around Mara Island. A monument marking the southern tip of Korea stands at General Rock southeast of Mara Island Lighthouse.

Yongmeori Cliff
There is a rocky hill called Yongmeori because it is shaped like the head of a dragon entering the water. It is composed of layered sandstone and visitors marvel at this uniquely beautiful coastline. Hamel monument tombstone can be seen on the way to the shore. To recognize Hamel’s achievement in Korea and advance friendship between South Korea and Netherlands, it was erected by Korea International Culture Society and Netherlands Embassy to South Korea on April 4th, 1980.
