Introduction

Maidanak observatory is an observatory located in the South-East part of Uzbekistan, on the Mt. Maidanak. It boasts excellent astroclimate, and currently has a number of telescopes, including the 1.5-m optical telescope equipped with the Seoul National University¡¯s 4k x 4k CCD camera. There have been a steady interest on the observatory among international communities, including astronomers in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. The purpose of this meeting is to promote the usage of the Maidanak observatory among astronomers in the world, and to discuss the future plans to modernize the facilities.

Astronomy Program, Department of Physics & Astronomy, Seoul National University; the Center for the Exploration of the Origin of the Universe (CEOU), one of the Creative Research Initiative programs of the Ministry of Education and Science & Technology of Korea; Asia-Africa Science Platform Program by Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS), "Development of the Asia-wide Observation Network for Detecting and Investigating Potentially Hazardous Near-Earth Asteroids"; and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Grant-in-aid by Director's discretion, "Construction of a real-time data reduction system for near-Earth asteroids"


Registration/Presentation

Registration fee is free. There will be on-site registration, but please notify us in advance if you want to register for the meeting by sending e-mail to Dr. Fumi Yoshida at fumi.yoshida@nao.ac.jp (for non-Korean participants), or Ms. Hyo-In Lee at lhi@snu.ac.kr (for Korean participants). Please include in your e-mail, your name, title, institution, the country, and whether you would like to give a presentation. Slots are limited for oral presentation, but there will be ample space for posters.

There will be spaces for poster presentations. Please contact SOC or LOC members if you want to present a poster.


Proceedings

We will collect presentation files from every speaker by USB memory. Please prepare electric copy for it.
